Mae was our neighborhood mom. I remember always being at the Smith home. She was such a sweet lady & a strong Christian. How she lived her life was an inspiration to me. She loved the Lord & her family. I never heard her say an unkind word. Even when she was upset with you she was still nice. I know she is already rejoicing with LeeRoy & with God's sense of humor, their mansion is probably 2 doors down from the Mecom's. Praying for all of the Smith kids & grandkids during this time. It's so hard to say good bye. But you can have peace in your heart knowing she has received her crown.

There are so many memories of my Grandma to choose from but the one that stands out the most is how as a child (and even now) I was always terribly afraid of severe weather & tornados. We were outside one afternoon, I was probably about 8-9 & we had bad weather coming. The sky was getting dark & I asked her "How will I know if a tornado is coming" and she replied the best answer she could for my age. She said " The sky will turn a funny green & then it will get as black as the tire of that car (pointing to her car in the driveway) and it will become very still and when it does, you need to find somewhere safe. I will never forget that along with countless other precious memories I have of her.
