Obituary of Donald Leroy Knupp

Donald Leroy Knupp, age 91, of Coweta, OK went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning, September 27, 2016 at his home in Coweta, OK. Leroy was born on July 15, 1925 to Gardner and Jessie (Hopping) Knupp in Coweta, OK. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1948. Leroy and Mary E. Stack were married on October 9, 1949 in the Gardner Knupp home. They enjoyed 62 years together. In his lifetime, he held prominent positions in the First Christian Church, the Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Lion's Club, the Masonic Lodge and the United Steel Workers Local 7568. Leroy retired from C.E. Natco in 1982 after 33 years of service and 5 years of service with the Coweta school system. His hobbies included golfing, bow hunting, fishing and gardening. Leroy and Mary enjoyed traveling to many places in the United States, Canada and Europe. Leroy is survived by several nieces and nephews; 1 sister-in-law, Pearline Childress; and other relatives and friends. Leroy was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Knupp in 2013, his parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Viewing will be from 9 AM - 8 PM on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home. Services celebrating Leroy's life will be at 2 PM on Friday, September 30, 2016 at the First Christian Church in Coweta, OK with Pastor Allan Swinson officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK. Pallbearers are David Childress, Doug Stack, Roger Stack, Gary Jack Knupp, Mike Knupp and Kenny Moore.
