My husband asked me this week about my Aunt Barbara's Native American heritage & had looked her up to see info online. Unfortunately, we found out she had passed away last week. I tried to keep in touch at Christmas & knew her health had declined from my sister, Tonya, visiting her. Please know we would have been in touch sooner if we had known. Many happy memories of Uncle Don & Aunt Barbara, Larry & Gary at the Gillespie Family Reunions. Especially in Derby, KS with all the Gillespie sons & families together playing cards & with much laughter. Love & prayers from Tina & Jeff Fattig & my Mother, Thelma Gillespie (widow of Kenneth Gillespie), all in Texas.

Dear family Barbara was a very good friend and co worker on different committees, we shared our Indian heritage and interested in tribal affairs Kenneth was a very close fried and still miss him. My father was good friends with Mose. We will all miss Barbara my family and I will be praying for all of you. Such a sweet lady and such a beautiful picture of her. Proud I can say I worked with her at the Junior High. I enjoyed listening to the different crafts and projects she had planned for her students at the summer camps. Prayers for the family during this sad time.

My sincerest condolences to the family. I met Barbara when I was very young I was 19 or 20 years old and she was my kind of lady. She was feisty, outspoken and opinionated. She said what she thought, I've seen her many times in council meetings, She was passionate about her position and always wanted what was best her people. I told her I was going to be just like her and she laughed. She told me "sometimes she was not very popular" but oh well if you don't learn to say what you really think people will never know what you really want. It was a pleasure to know Barbara along with Helen Chupco and Irene Cleghorn. No other can compare to these three ladies that served on the Muscogee Creek Nation National Council.
