Obituary of Leon Glenn Hall

Leon Glenn Hall, age 87, departed this life on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at his home in Coweta, surrounded by his loving and caring family members and friends. Glenn was born on June 23, 1921 in Coweta, Oklahoma to Elbert F. and Bertha May (Randeau) Hall. He received his education in Coweta Public School System and graduated from Coweta High School in 1939. Glenn enlisted in the United States Air Force in June 1942 serving in World War II and was honorably discharged on January 6, 1946. He was called back to service in August 1950 serving in the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged on August 19, 1951. Glenn and Mary Lomeda Wood were united in marriage on January 17, 1946 in Coweta, Oklahoma. He was a longtime resident of Coweta and will be dearly missed by those who knew him. Glenn worked for the United States Postal Service for 30 years until he retired in 1976. He was a long serving elder at Towne and Country Christian Church in Coweta and was a member of the American Legion Post 226 for 61 years. Glenn loved spending time out in his garden and he also enjoyed doing yard work. Left behind to cherish his memories is his wife of 62 years, Lomeda Hall of the home; his son, Jerry Hall of Keller, Texas; his brother, Wayne Hall of Dallas, Texas; his step-brother, Albert Engel of Carrollton, Texas; his two granddaughters, Andrea Hall of Broken Arrow and Delaina and Jason Leaver of Coweta; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother, Viola Willhoite, one son, one daughter, one brother, one sister, and two step-brothers. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Coweta with Minister John Catrett and Minister Roy Blackmore officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, July 25, 2008 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Arrangements and services are under the direction of Wright Funeral Home in Coweta. Pallbearers were Ron Hughes, Brent Hughes, Mark Hughes, Mike Rampey, Johnny Wood, and Brad Sturgeon. Honorary Pallbearers were Daril Thompson, Wayne Hall, Wayne Rowe, Jason Leaver, Alden Meadows, Kirby Sturgeon, Clifford Rampey, Willard Rampey, Edwin Kuehn, Jim Hughes, Kenneth Hughes, and Dennis Hughes.
