Obituary of John Withers

John W. Withers, age 61, of Coweta passed from this life on Sunday morning, May 18, 2008 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, while in the company of his loving family. John was born on January 19, 1947 in Coweta, Oklahoma to G. W. and Myrtle (Tidwell) Withers. He received his education in the Coweta school system and graduated from Coweta High School in 1965. John enlisted in the United States Army on May 10, 1966 and was honorably discharged on March 1, 1968. He and Margie Holmes were united in marriage on August 6, 1971 in Coweta, Oklahoma and they later divorced in 1983. Then on September 5, 1998, he and Carol Sarty were united in marriage. John was a self-employed carpenter and was also a welder at Webco Tank for eight years. He was a member at the First Baptist Church in Coweta and the American Legion. John enjoyed woodworking and he loved his dog. Left behind to cherish his memories is his wife, Carol of the home; five sons, Wes Withers of Coweta, Oklahoma, Danny Denton of Coweta, Oklahoma, Reginald Keith Doss of Santa Anna, California, Douglas Doss of Coweta, Oklahoma, and Samson Doss of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two brothers, Dan Withers and Harry Withers, both of Coweta, Oklahoma; two sisters, Francis Morrow of Chouteau, Oklahoma and Barbara Van Brunt of Wagoner, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Billy Denton, and two brothers, Frank and Walt Withers. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at First Baptist Church in Coweta with Rev. Greg Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Vernon Cemetery.
