Obituary of Olen Jones

Olen G. Jones, age 75, of Coweta, Oklahoma passed from this life on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Olen was born on April 23, 1932 in Stigler, Oklahoma to Albert Cicero and Majellon (Dement) Jones. He received his education in the Stigler, Oklahoma school system. Olen and Etta A. Harvey were united in marriage on October 23, 1954 in Stigler, Oklahoma. They came to the Coweta, Oklahoma area in 1971 from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Olen worked as a self-employed auto glass mechanic for 56 years until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of the Shahan Free Will Baptist Church. His hobbies included playing music in a band, fishing, and doing church work. Survivors include his wife, Etta of the home; two sons, Darrell Jones and his wife, Joanna, of Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma and Jimmie Jones and his wife, Shelley, of Claremore, Oklahoma; one daughter, Yolanda Wakefield and her husband, Raymond, of Coweta, Oklahoma; two brothers, Curtis Jones of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Nolen Jones of Muskogee, Oklahoma; one sister, Kathleen Howard of Owasso, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 10, 2008 at First Baptist Church in Coweta with Rev. Lynn Moss officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Shahan Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Wright Funeral Home.
