Obituary of Ned Sarty

Ned Dee Sarty, Jr., age 80, of Coweta, Oklahoma passed from this life on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Ned was born on February 20, 1927 in Coweta, Oklahoma to Ned Dee Sarty, Sr. and Leola (Finnigan) Sarty. He received his education in the Coweta school system and graduated from Coweta High School in 1945. He joined the United States Army on December 26, 1945 and was honorably discharged on May 13, 1947. Ned and Louise Toney were united in marriage on June 7, 1948 in Coweta, Oklahoma. Ned owned and operated NAPA Auto Parts in Coweta, Oklahoma since 1978. He was a member of the Christian Church, Northeast Oklahoma Angus Association, Oklahoma Cattleman's Association, and Rural Water District #5. He enjoyed cattle, his grandchildren, and jazz music. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Louise, of the home; two sons, Ned Sarty III and his wife, Susan, of Kingston, Georgia and Michael Sarty and his wife, Beverly, of Coweta, Oklahoma; two daughters, Pam Vance and her husband, Mark, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Shelly Greene and her husband, Bill, of Bixby, Oklahoma; one brother, James Sarty of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two sisters, Ramona Malcham and Susie Schwartz, both of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two half brothers, Homer and Raymond Sarty. Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at First Baptist Church in Coweta, Oklahoma with Rev. David Daniels officiating.
