Obituary of Ruth Foster

Ruth J. Foster, age 94, of Coweta passed from this life on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Franciscan Villa in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Ruth was born on October 23, 1913 in Okemah, Oklahoma to William Wallice and Lula Gertrude (Montgomery) Johnson. She received her education in the Coweta school system and graduated from Coweta High School. She then attended Northeastern State University and Tulsa University where she received her master's degree. Ruth and Pete R. Foster were united in marriage on December 24, 1935 in Coweta, Oklahoma. Ruth worked as a teacher for Rothammer School, Coweta Public Schools, and various other schools for 48 years until her retirement. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, Retired Teacher's Association, and Deep Fork Senior Citizens. Her hobbies included sewing and picking pecans. Survivors include one daughter, Lu Anne Prather of Coweta, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Anita Carol Rausch and Stanley Allen Prather; one niece; and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at Wright Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Allen Carson and Rev. Sandy Statham officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Wright Funeral Home.
