Obituary of Dave Engel

Dave L. Engel, age 75, of Coweta passed from this life on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. Dave was born on June 16, 1932 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to James G. and Viola (Crockett) Engel. He received his education in the Coweta school system and graduated from Coweta High School in 1949. He also attended Northeastern State College for four years and graduated in 1957. Dave and Eloise Garrett were united in marriage on February 6, 1953 in Coweta, OK. He joined the United States Army on November 12, 1953 and was honorably discharged on August 11, 1955. Dave lived in the Coweta and Broken Arrow area for most of his life. Dave owned and operated Central Tag Agency in Broken Arrow, OK. He was also an accountant for several trucking companies. He was a member of Shahan Baptist Church in Coweta, OK. His hobbies included golfing, fishing, camping, hunting, and watching baseball. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Eloise of the home; two sons, Garry Engel and Mark Engel both of Coweta, OK; one daughter, Annette Engel of Coweta, OK; one brother Albert Engel and his wife, Nancy, of Edmond, OK; three half-brothers, Glenn Hall of Coweta, OK, Earl Hall of Texas, and Harold Willhoite of Coweta, OK; one sister-in-law, Janice Engel of Jenks, OK; one half-sister, Bernice Boyd of Tulsa, OK; three grandchildren, Dustin Engel, Jessica Engel, and Stormey Thompson; two step grandchildren, Joey Cash and Jennifer Zeimet; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ray Engel. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2007 at First Baptist Church in Coweta, OK with Reverend Bill Walker and Reverend David Jones officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, OK. Arrangements and services are under the direction of Wright Funeral Home.
