Obituary of Wayne Cooper

Henry Wayne Cooper, age 71, resident of Coweta passed away on Saturday morning, April 8, 2017 at the Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center in Muskogee, OK.  Wayne was born on November 27, 1945 to William Henry and Velma G. (Mozingo) Cooper in Plumerville, AR.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving in Vietnam from 1965 to 1967 and was awarded the Purple Heart.  He and Alpha Mae (Morgan) Cooper were married on June 16, 1977.  Wayne worked at Texaco, ABDick Print Shop and Sylvan Printing Supply.  He retired from Sylvan Printing Supply as a repair technician in 2005.  Wayne was a member of the Coweta American Legion Post 226.  He enjoyed bowling, watching Nascar, going to the lake, grilling and tinkering in mechanics.  Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Alpha Mae Cooper, his parents and 1 son, Craig Poplin.  Wayne is survived by 1 son, Kirk Poplin and wife, Teresa of Coweta, OK; 1 daughter, Sherrill McPherson and husband, Steve of Pryor, OK; 3 brothers, Amos Cooper and wife, Nora of Tulsa, OK, Gary Cooper and wife, Shirley of Sperry, OK and Dean Cooper and wife, Brenda of Tulsa, OK; 4 grandchildren, Ashley Lane and (Nolan), Justin Poplin and wife (Jennifer), Shelby Joiner and husband (Cody) and Scott McPherson and wife (Sharon); 12 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Viewing will be from 12-8 PM on Monday, April 10, 2017 at the funeral home.  Funeral services celebrating Wayne's life will be at 2 PM on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK with Pastor Calvin Easley officiating.  Burial with full military honors will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK.  Pallbearers are Kirk Poplin, Justin Poplin, Nolan Lane, Gabe Lane, Bill Cooper and Terry Cooper.
