Obituary of Taylor Duane Coker

Taylor Duane Coker, age 68, resident of Coweta passed away on Sunday afternoon, January 8, 2017 at his home in Coweta, OK. Taylor was born on May 12, 1948 to Hubert Taylor "H.T." and Hallie Laverne (Wade) Coker in Muskogee, OK. He was a 1966 graduate of Coweta High School. After graduating, he attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK. Taylor and Sue Belle Rogers were married on June 2, 1970 in Broken Arrow, OK. He worked for the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority as a toll collector for many years until he retired. Taylor was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Coweta, OK. He was an avid OU fan and enjoyed sports, singing and karaoke, traveling to Branson and he loved spending time with his family. Taylor was preceded in death by his parents. Taylor is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sue Coker of the home in Coweta, OK; 2 daughters, Jennifer Austin and husband, Troy of Claremore, OK and Ellen Buchanan and husband, Beau of Tulsa, OK; 5 grandchildren, Shelby Haddock, Victoria Austin, Hallie Austin, Colin Buchanan and Emma Buchanan; 1 great grandson, Colton Haddock; and numerous other relatives and friends. Viewing will be from 9 AM - 8 PM on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 with the family present from 6-8 PM. Services celebrating Taylor's life will be at 10 AM on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Coweta, OK with Rev. John Miller and Rev. Allen Carson officiating. Burial will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK. Pallbearers are Troy Austin, Beau Buchanan, Kyle Haddock, Tony Davis, Harold Chance and Tim Johnson.
