Obituary of Mina W. Gilbert-Denton

Mina W. Gilbert-Denton, age 84, of Coweta went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday evening, November 2, 2016 in Tulsa, OK. Mina was born on March 24, 1932 to Pete and Zelma (Pennington) Cantrell in Broken Arrow, OK. She married Edgar Elzie Gilbert on April 27, 1948 in Coweta, OK and he preceded her in death in 1997. She then married Jack Denton on June 1, 1999 and he preceded her in death in 2008. Mina was a devoted homemaker who loved caring for her family. She was a member of the Coweta Church of God of Prophecy. She enjoyed crocheting, working crossword puzzles, going to auctions with Edgar, teaching in the children's department at church and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mina is survived by 2 daughters, Janice Wenzel and husband, Stan of Tulsa, OK and Phyllis Lawson of Coweta, OK; 1 son, Ray Gilbert and wife, Dayna of Hennessey, OK; 2 sisters, Helen Conner of Broken Arrow and Glenda McCollum of Okemah, OK; 1 brother, James Cantrell of Broken Arrow, OK; 6 grandchildren, Stan Wenzel, Jr. and wife, Marcie, Jeremey Lawson and wife, Shelley, Misty Hargrove and husband, Dennis, Jana Lawson, Alissa Towner and husband, Billy and Derek Gilbert; 10 great grandchildren, Zachary, Ashlee, Seth, Lindsey, Matthew, Jenna, Anna, Jessi, Joey and Rayna; 1 sister-in-law, Katherine Cantrell; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mina was preceded in death by both husbands, her parents and 1 brother, LD Cantrell. Viewing will be from 12-6 PM on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home with the family present from 4-6 PM. Services celebrating Mina's life will be at 1 PM on Monday, November 7, 2016 at the Coweta Church of God of Prophecy in Coweta, OK with Pastor Larry Duncan officiating. A private interment will be in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK. Pallbearers are Stan Wenzel, Jr., Jeremy Lawson, Dennis Hargrove, Seth Hargrove, Matthew Hargrove and Zachary Wenzel.
