Obituary of Ronald Todd
Ronald Todd went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 19, 2016. Ronald Todd or “Ron” as he was called by his friends was born on May 13, 1938 in Coweta, Oklahoma to Pauline Snelson-Todd and Arley Todd. Ron was educated in the Coweta School system until the age of 16 when he left school to work in a machine shop. Ron married Christine Easley on May 29, 1956 and they had three children, Sandra, Norma and Ronnie. Ron and Christine just celebrated 60 joyous years of marriage this past May.
Ron had a passion for working with cars and in 1967 Ron opened his own full time garage. Ron owned and operated a garage and wrecker service for many years serving the residents of Coweta and surrounding areas. Ron loved his hometown of Coweta and was once quoted as saying that the people of Coweta “are the best bunch of people in the World”. Ron also served on the Coweta City Council. In 1992 “Ron’s Garage” moved locations and became “Ron Todd’s Quick Change and Repair”. Ron owned and operated the Quick Change with his wife Christine until both retired in 2008. Ron loved to fish and he and Christine spent many days at Ft. Gibson Lake where they had a boat dock. Ron’s love for turning a wrench spilled over into retirement and “Ron’s Tractor Service” was born. Ron continued to work with his hands rebuilding tractors and Ron spent hours bringing old tractors back to life. Ron also enjoyed playing dominoes with friends and family. Ron loved to laugh and was well known for making others around him laugh with his great story telling. Ron loved his family dearly. Ron was a loving husband, a cherished father and is described as “the best papa ever”. Ron was a great friend to many.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Paula Kay Mills and granddaughter Wendy Baucom. Ron is survived by his wife, Christine of Coweta, three children: daughter, Sandra Rhodes and husband Travis of Hulbert; daughter, Norma Goodnight and husband Mike of Coweta and son, Ronnie Todd and his wife Gypsy of Springfield, Missouri; a sister Fay Mills and husband Ray of Broken Arrow, four grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be from 12-7 PM on Saturday, July 23, 2016 and 12-6 PM on Sunday, July 24, 2016 with the family greeting friends from 3-5 PM on Sunday. Services celebrating Ron's life will be at 10 AM on Monday, July 25, 2016 at Coweta Assembly of God in Coweta, OK with Pastor Steve Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta. Pallbearers are Jeramy Rhodes, Chris Berg, Billy Crimmins, Ethan Lucito, Randy Woodward, Joshua Todd, Zach Lechner and Dax Childres.
