Obituary of Thomas Loren Powell

Thomas Loren Powell, age 49, of Broken Arrow, OK was born on August 19, 1966 in El Dorado, KS and is the son of Larry T. and Doris J. (Gilliam) Powell. Thomas passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2016 after a tragic accident. He worked at Becco Contractors Inc. as a Diesel Mechanic for 17 years. Thomas married Kristy M. (Tyrrell) Powell on September 18, 2010 in Broken Arrow, OK. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, drag racing, fishing and hunting. His two sons were his life and he loved spending time with them. Thomas was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Tom and Joy Jennings and his maternal grandparents, Olin and Loraine Gilliam. Thomas is survived by his wife, Kristy Powell of the home in Broken Arrow, OK; his parents, Larry and Doris Powell of Broken Arrow, OK; 2 sons, Thomas Hunter Powell of Coweta, OK and Gavin Powell of Broken Arrow, OK; 1 brother, Terry Powell and wife, Kelie of Coweta, OK; 1 sister, D.D. Bristol and husband, Parris of Coweta, OK; 15 nieces and nephews; and numerous other relatives and many friends. Viewing will be from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home. Services celebrating the life of Thomas will be at 2 PM on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Sunnyside Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, OK with Rocky Garrison officiating. Pallbearers will be Bennie Hawkins, Billy Hawkins, Burt Taylor, Greg Thornton, GW Cross, Parris Bristol, Rod Hurley and Larry Teague. Honorary Pallbearer will be Mark Field.
