Obituary of Ollie Mae Williams

On May 12, 1923 a baby girl was born to James and Jeffrey Jones-Jackson in Seminole, Oklahoma and they named her Ollie Mae. Following the death of Ollie’s parents, her oldest sister adopted Ollie and the twins. After adopting Ollie and the twins, they moved to Flat Rock, Oklahoma. There she became a member of the First Baptist Church. In 1942, Ollie married her childhood sweetheart, George W. Robbins and to this union one daughter was born, Georgia Mae Robbins. In 1944, Ollie moved to Coweta where she joined the Mt. Rose Baptist Church. She loved working for the Lord. She was a diligent worker and held many offices during her lifetime just to name a few, Sunday School Superintendent, Choir President, Mission President, Church Clerk and Trustee. In 1945, Ollie married Jack Williams. Ollie was full of life and always had a positive attitude. After moving to Coweta, Ollie needed a job. Her auntie Leora Smith got her hired at the Green Parrot Cafe. The Cafe was owned by Elwood and Evelyn Hopping and she worked there long after Elwood and Evelyn were gone. Then Wesley and Colleen Hopping became the proud owners of the Green Parrot Cafe. Long after she retired she moved in with her daughter, Georgia. Ollie’s health began to fail in March 2016 and she remained at her daughter’s house until her passing on April 23, 2016. One of the happiest days of her life was when her grandson, Kendric Ollie Bailey was born. Her pastime was collecting roosters and quilting. Ollie’s parents, both husbands and 13 siblings preceded her in death. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, 1 daughter, Georgia Bailey of Coweta, Oklahoma; 1 grandson, Kendric Ollie Bailey of Tempe, Arizona; 1 sister, Odell Neal of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 1 adopted daughter, Glenal Pruitt-Johnson of Redwood City, California; 1 granddaughter, Drew Coverson (Lavelle) of Hercules, California; 1 grandson, Matthew Johnson of Redwood City, California; 2 great grandsons, Cole and Logan; 1 brother-in-law, Tommy Harris of Coweta, Oklahoma; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and also the Mt. Rose Church Family. A Celebration of Life Service for Ollie Mae Williams will be at 11 AM on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Mt. Rose Baptist Church in Coweta, Oklahoma.
