Obituary of Doris Jean Dowty

Doris Jean Dowty, age 86, of Broken Arrow, Okla. was born on April 18, 1929 in Pittsburg, Kan. to Tom and Zella (Williams) Billionis. Doris departed this life Tuesday evening, April 5, 2016 at the Clarehouse in Tulsa, Okla. She and Melvin D. Dowty were united in marriage and he preceded her in death in 2008. Doris and Melvin owned and operated a painting business together for many years. She enjoyed square dancing, camping, fishing and spending time with her family and friends. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin D. Dowty, her parents, Tom and Zella Billionis, 2 daughters, Krista Colleen Powell and Connie Kay Kerley, 1 brother, Mark Billions and 1 grandson, Kelly Powell. Doris is survived by 2 grandchildren, Troy Powell and wife, Cheryl of Coweta, Okla. and Summer Jones and husband, Paul of Broken Arrow, Okla.; 5 great grandchildren, Kevin, Kris, Kane, Ace and Deven; 1 great-great grandson, Jaxson; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. A memorial service celebrating the life of Doris will be at 2 PM on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, Okla. with Chaplain Roger Sheppard officiating.
