Obituary of Jerry Lee Bowers

Jerry Lee "Jake" Bowers, age 68, of Coweta, Okla. was born on September 8, 1947 to John Wesley and Gladys (Mannon) Bowers in Coweta, Okla. Jake passed away on Monday evening, April 4, 2016 at his home in Coweta, Okla. Jake was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He enlisted in the Army in 1967 and was honorably discharged in 1969. Jake worked at TK International as a welder for over 25 years. He and Lois Elaine (Underwood) Bowers were married on December 31, 2007 in Coweta, Okla. He was a member of the American Legion Post #226 and the Akdar Shrine. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and traveling. Jake was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley and Gladys Bowers, 1 son, Brian Bowers, 4 brothers, Joe, Sid, Sam and Donald and 1 sister, Doris Jean and 1 stillborn sister. Jake is survived by his wife, Lois Bowers of the home in Coweta, Okla.; 6 children, Kimmie Tackett and husband, Keith of Wagoner, Okla., Jerry "Hoot" Bowers of Haskell, Okla., Michelle Hunt and husband, John of Boynton, Okla., Kim Saddoris, Jay Kennon and wife, Cheri of Coweta, Okla. and Stephanie Garrett and husband, Ronnie of Muskogee, Okla.; 5 brothers, Cotton Bowers and wife, Wilma of Sand Springs, Okla., Dave Bowers and wife, Pearl of Coweta, Okla., Jack Bowers of Wichita, Tex., J.W. Bowers of Coweta, Okla. and Roy Bowers of Coweta, Okla.; 3 sisters, Betty Adams of Coweta, Okla., Mary Lou Billings of Cocoa, Fla. and Nita Gail Purdom and husband, Johnny of Broken Arrow, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 2 great granddaughters on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Viewing will be from 9 AM - 8 PM on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home with the family present from 6-8 PM. Funeral services celebrating Jake's life will be at 11 AM on Friday, April 8, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Coweta, Okla. with Rev. Lynn Moss officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Ft. Gibson National Cemetery in Ft. Gibson, Okla.
