Obituary of Jean Wasson

Lola Jean Wasson, age 87, lifelong Coweta resident, was born on February 24, 1928 in Coweta, Okla. to Alfred P. and Corda (Werner) Shieldnight. She married Cleetis W. Wasson on June 15, 1946 in Coweta, Okla. and together they raised their adopted daughter, Debbie. Jean went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday afternoon, January 22, 2016 at Senior Suites in Broken Arrow, Okla. Jean was a 1946 graduate of Coweta High School. She worked as a Key Punch Operator for many years. In the 60's and 70's, she owned The Collage gift shop in Coweta. Jean was a faithful and active member of the First Christian Church in Coweta. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, shopping, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. Jean is lovingly survived by 1 daughter, Debbie Holmes and husband, Tony of Coweta, Okla.; 2 grandchildren, Heath Holmes and wife, Jamie of Coweta, Okla. and Heather Carver and husband, Mac of Edmond, Okla.; 4 great grandchildren, Sierra, Baylee, Paisley and Hannah; 1 brother, Kent Shieldnight and wife, Karen of Coweta, Okla.; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Cleetis W. Wasson in 2001, her parents, Alfred and Corda Shieldnight and 4 brothers, Edward Shieldnight, Lee Shieldnight, Joe Shieldnight and Bob Shieldnight. Viewing for Jean will be from 11 AM - 8 PM on Monday, January 25, 2016 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6-8 PM. Funeral services celebrating Jean's life will be at 2 PM on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at the First Christian Church in Coweta, Okla. with Tony Holmes officiating. Burial will follow at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Okla. Pallbearers are Mike Shieldnight, Jim Shieldnight, Wayne Dixon, Curtis Simpson, Todd Simpson and Scott Jacofsky.
