Obituary of Dennis L. Curtis

Dennis L. Curtis, age 61, resident of Coweta, OK passed away on Sunday evening, October 11, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. Dennis was born on September 20, 1954 to Jerry Lee and Ella Lea (Young) Curtis in Broken Arrow, OK. He and Susan Marie Ashmore were married on June 21, 1983 in Coweta, OK. Dennis worked as a carpenter for the Oklahoma/Arkansas Carpenter's Union for 11 years. He enjoyed golfing, woodworking, hunting, playing softball, umpiring, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandkids. Dennis will be missed as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Lee and Ella Lea Curtis and his brother, Larry York. Dennis is lovingly survived by his wife, Susan Curtis of the home in Coweta, OK; 1 son, Dewayne Curtis of Coweta, OK; 4 daughters, Chasity Levi and husband, Aaron of Coweta, OK, Hetherle Cantrell and husband, Todd of Ft. Gibson, OK, Amanda Mendenhall and husband, Scott of Ft. Gibson, OK and Ashley Campbell and husband, Travis of Coweta, OK; 12 grandchildren, Cody, Dylan and wife Jessie, Sara, Shellby, Dustin, Baylea, McKenna, Toby, Tennleigh, Kristjan, Rylea and Wyett; 2 great grandchildren, Brayden and Kaylee; a great granddaughter on the way, Paislei; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Viewing will be from 9 AM - 8 PM on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home with the family present from 5-8 PM. Funeral services celebrating the life of Dennis will be at 1 PM on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Clarksville Free Will Baptist Church in Porter, OK with Pastor Charles Smith officiating and Pastor Phil Rogers and Anthony Davis assisting. Burial will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK. Pallbearers are Dwight Herd, Anthony "Cool" Davis, Kenny Herd, Danny Joe Green, Bob Mendenhall, John Snow and Tim Snow. Honorary Pallbearers are Cody Culver, Dylan Curtis, Dustin Curtis, Toby Campbell, Wyett Mendenhall, Gene Harrington, Wayne York, Jim McDuffee, Ray Sisco and JJ McDuffee.
