Obituary of Carl Vaughn Meadows

Carl Vaughn Meadows, age 74, lifelong resident of Coweta passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Okla. surrounded by his family. Vaughn was born on September 29, 1940 to Virgil Matthew and Callie Thelma (Rhodes) Meadows in Coweta, Okla. He was a 1958 graduate of Coweta High School. Vaughn and Dorothy Pauline Cooper were united in marriage in February of 1969 in Okla. He was a truck driver for most of his life. He also owned Meadows Tractor and Dozer Service with his son, Greg until he retired in 2010. Vaughn was a faithful member of Clarksville Free Will Baptist Church in Porter, Okla., where he taught Sunday school for over 20 years and was a member of the board. He also was a member of the Fishers of Men Bass Club. He enjoyed camping, fishing, taking road trips and he loved spending time with his family. Vaughn was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil Matthew and Callie Thelma Meadows, his first wife, Lola Jane (Olden) Meadows, 1 son, Dennis Bibb, 1 daughter, Kimberly Dawn Hermann, 1 sister, Velma Moss, 1 brother-in-law, Dudley Moss and 1 sister-in-law, Lois Meadows. Vaughn is survived by his wife, Dorothy Meadows of the home in Coweta, Okla.; 5 children, Teresa Poplin and husband, Ronnie, of Coweta, Okla., Dena Miller of Coweta, Okla., Brent Meadows and wife, LaRena, of Coweta, Okla., Floyd Bibb and wife, Karla, of Coweta, Okla. and Greg Meadows and wife, Michelle, of Coweta, Okla.; 2 brothers, John Meadows of Coweta, Okla. and Alden Meadows and wife, Loretta, of Coweta, Okla.; 17 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Viewing will be from 9 AM - 8 PM on Friday, May 8, 2015 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home with the family being present from 6 PM - 8 PM. Funeral services celebrating Vaughn's life will be at 10 AM on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Clarksville Free Will Baptist Church in Porter, Okla. with Pastor Charles Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Okla. Pallbearers are Bryan Meadows, Jacob Meadows, Jimmy Dykes, Kyle Bibb, Johnny Myers and Bobby Myers. Honorary Pallbearers are Aaron Levi, Jeremy Poplin, Colt Nipps, Derrick Chadwell and Justin Meadows.
