Obituary of Jack Varner
Sylvester Earl (Jack) Varner was born July 31, 1922 of George Earl and Gertie McCause, Johnston County, Ravie Oklahoma. In 1943 while residing in Stockton California he fell in love with Juanita Callicoat, after courting her at church outings for a few months they were married in Stockton on March 18th, 1944. The marriage produced four children, 9 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren. Jack worked in the oilfields of Texas for many years in various positions, Jack and Juanita moved to the Broken Arrow-Coweta area in 1975 where he became a core maker in the Sentinel Manufacturing Foundry where he retired in 1987. Jack loved playing the Guitar and gathered with friends to jam and play music as often as possible. Jack and some of these friends formed the Too Late Band and played at area nursing homes as well as other appearances. Jack had a very outgoing personality and like the famous Will Rogers never met a man he did not like. He also had a somewhat ornery streak and loved to have fun aggravating and teasing those he was fond of. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his only sibling Paul Varner, his loving wife Juanita Varner, a daughter Geneva Pearl Argenbright and a granddaughter Christina Ann Varner. Jack is survived by his children, Roger Earl Varner and his wife, Mary, of Blue Springs, Missouri, Howard Eugene Varner and his wife, Karen, of Littlefield, Texas, Roy Dean Varner and his wife, Alma, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; their grandchildren, James William Argenbright, Janell Varner Oyler of Lubbock, TX, Jayka Varner of Lubbock, TX, Mike Varner of Tuttle, OK, Lora Varner Greb of Spiro, OK, Matthew Varner of Independence, KS, Amanda Varner of Broken Arrow, OK and Nicholas Varner of Tulsa, OK. Jack has 14 great grandchildren, Kera Parker, Kory Parker, Alex Varner, Abby Varner, Audrey Varner, Emily Varner, Alena Varner, Melody Oyler, Johnny Olyer, Charley Varner, Dakota Sperry, Conner McCamey, Dakota and Mallory Mitchell. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, May 10, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Wright-Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK with Pastor Billy Callicoat officiating. Honorary Pallbearers are Mike Varner, Matt Varner, Lora Greb, Amanda Varner, Nicholas Varner and Jayka Varner.
