Obituary of Roy Marshall

Roy S. Marshall, resident of Coweta, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Coweta Manor Nursing Home in Coweta, OK at the age of 93 years, 2 months and 17 days. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather. Roy was born on December 12, 1917 in Berlin, OK to S.V. and Minnie Evelyn (Posey) Marshall. He and Dorothy Pixler were married on July 27, 1938 in Cordell, OK. On August 6, 1945 Roy enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged on December 6, 1945. During his service, he served in World War II. Roy was a farmer and rancher for most of his life. He has served as an elder at the 2nd & Adams Church of Christ in Elk City, OK and at the Church of Christ in Altus, OK. Roy was currently a member at the Church of Christ in Coweta. He enjoyed reading the Bible, tinkering with cars, messing with cattle and horses, watching westerns, eating cheese puffs and drinking Dr. Pepper. Roy loved his family dearly and he enjoyed spending time with them. Roy is lovingly survived by his wife of 72 years, Dorothy of the home; his daughters, Sandra Hilderbrant of Ft. Worth, TX and Barbara Harp and her husband, Elgin Jr., of Coweta, OK; his son, Kenneth James “K.J.” and his wife, Brenda, of Bixby, OK; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Roy was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings. Funeral services for Roy will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at the Church of Christ in Coweta with Rex Shrum officiating. Burial will follow at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta. Friends may send condolences to the family online at www.wrightfh.net. The family of Roy S.
