Obituary of Darold Wasson

Darold Leon Wasson, age 77, of Sevierville, Tennessee (formerly of Coweta, Oklahoma) departed this life on Thursday, April 1, 2010 in Sevierville, Tennessee. He was born on January 20, 1933 in Coweta, Oklahoma to William Dailey and Cora (Meadows) Wasson. Darold was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather to his family. He graduated with Technical degree from Oklahoma State University School of Lithographing. Darold and Dainese Oler were united in marriage on October 2, 1953 in Coweta, Oklahoma. He was a member of Richardson Cove Baptist Church in Sevierville, Tennessee and a former member of the First Baptist Church in Coweta, Oklahoma. Darold was a lifetime member of Coweta chapter of Future Farmers of America. His hobbies included gardening, spending time with his grandchildren, raising and training German Shepherds, beekeeping, raising and working with livestock, traveling, hunting and fishing. Darold worked as a lithographer for R.F. Rodgers Lithographing in Tulsa, Oklahoma for 33 years. He and his wife owned and operated Wasson’s Department Store in Coweta for nearly 20 years. Darold served 2 years during the Korean conflict in Korea. He trained as a member of the 5th Armored Division as an Artilleryman and served with the 7th Infantry Division, 31st Field Artillery Battalion. He entered as a Private and was promoted to Corporal and honorably discharged as Sergeant with letters of commendation from his commanding officer. Darold will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Darold is lovingly survived by his wife, Dainese Oler Wasson; his son, Dr. Dean Wasson and his wife, Joy; his daughter, Daresa “Casey” Land and her husband, Steve; one sister, Vella Luker; five grandchildren, Chasse Land-Green, Amber Wasson, Alex Wasson, Robby Land and Aiden Wasson; one great-grandson expected on April 6, 2010; and other relatives. Darold was preceded in death by his parents, William Daily and Cora (Meadows) Wasson, two brothers, Cleetis Wasson and Gene Wasson, and three sisters, Mary Dale, Nelma Higgins and Sybil Cox. Funeral services for Darold will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Coweta with Rev. David Jones officiating.
