Obituary of Maye Whitewater

Maye Bell Whitewater, age 88, of Muskogee, OK graduated to her heavenly HOME Friday, December 4, 2009. She was born on April 11, 1921 in Carson, OK to George Washington Garrison and Vina Mary (Standridge) Garrison. Maye was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She graduated 12th grade from Bagley High School in Tahlequah, OK. Maye married Tony Allen Whitewater in 1942. Allen preceded her in death shortly thereafter. He became ill in the Army. Maye was a homemaker and business woman, but her greatest joy was cooking and serving her family. In early years she liked gardening, walking through the neighborhood, and feeding her birds in the yard. She was a founding member of Eastern Heights Church, joining in 1949. A great sense of humor has carried her through the years. Maye loved to go places with her sister, Cleo, and they were best friends. She loved pretty flowers, and her favorite colors were autumn colors. Her conversations were always about her children, family, and her home. She will be greatly missed by loved ones and friends. Her special friend of many years is Helen Thomas. Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brothers, Glenn Garrison, Charlie B. Garrison, G. Edward Garrison, Floyd R. Garrison, and Earl Garrison; her sisters, Mary Lydia Montgomery and Lola Cleo Langone; Mary’s twin boys, Justin Childress and Rush Childress, which were her grandchildren. Maye is lovingly survived by her son, Ronald Allen Whitewater, and his wife, Linda, of Jenks, OK; her daughters, Peggy Ann Goad and her husband, Vernon, of Braggs, OK and Mary Lee Childress of Muskogee, OK. Her grandchildren, Barry Whitewater and his wife Lesley, Brian Whitewater and his wife, Cindy, Chase Childress and his wife, Lisa, Chelbi George and her husband, Jeremy, Chanin Cutsinger and her husband, Van, Brandon Elder and his wife, Marci, Michael Goad and his wife, Nakita, and Synthia Coleman and her husband, Jeremy. Her great grandchildren, Chloe, Sophia, and Anna Whitewater, Marshall Whitewater, Zachery, Allison, and Elizabeth Elder, Zane, Darian, and Jaden George, baby Rush O’Hara, Zian Childress, and Sadie Meulenberg. She has many nieces and nephews and other special relatives too numerous to mention.
