Obituary of Leon Cypert
Leon Troy Cypert, age 76, of Coweta passed from this life on Saturday morning, June 13, 2009 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 12, 1932 in Prue, OK to Marion Newton and Goldie Mae (Lay) Cypert. Leon was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather to his family. He moved to the Coweta area in 1936 from Prue. He attended school in the Coweta school system. Leon served in the United States Air Force from December 7, 1951 until he was honorably discharged on December 6, 1955. He was an aircraft mechanic for American Airlines for 29 years until his retirement in 1985. He and Wanda Vera Snowden were united in marriage on December 29, 1956 in Vicksburg, MS. Leon was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, the U. S. Veterans Association, and served as Deputy Sheriff of Wagoner County from 1976-1977. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and playing bingo. Leon was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one sister, Maxine, and five brothers, Willis, Daulton, Eugene, Willard, and Richard. Leon is lovingly survived by his step-son, Elvin Jackson of Sperry, OK; his brother, Fred Cypert and his wife, Roberta, of Locust Grove, OK; his two sisters-in-law, Sybil Taylor of Coweta, OK and Ruth Blair of Pryor, OK; his two grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Wright Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lynn Beeson of Chelsea, OK officiating. Interment will follow in Vernon Cemetery.
