Obituary of Darla Switzer

Darla Sue Switzer, age 60, of Porter passed from this life on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 14, 1949 in Tulsa to Amos and Maxine (Harris) Fowler. Darla was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother to her family. She attended school in the Tulsa, OK school system graduating from Rogers High School in 1967. She and George Wesley Switzer were united in marriage on October 6, 2001 in Oologah, OK. She moved to Porter in 2001 from Owasso. Darla worked for Brookhaven Hospital as an Administrative Assistant for 13 years. Her hobbies included reading and spending time with her grandkids. Darla was preceded in death by her father and sister-in-law, Cheryl Fowler. Darla is lovingly survived by her husband, George Wesley Switzer of the home; two sons, Kenneth Heaton and his wife, Kelly, of Talala, OK and Brian Heaton and his wife, Teresa of Collinsville, OK; three step-sons, Adam Switzer and his wife, Cynara of Danville, KY, Justin Switzer of Nevada, MO, Paul Switzer and his wife, Marney, of Redding, CA; one daughter, Shawna Williams and her husband, Steven, of Inola, OK; her mother, Maxine Fowler of Collinsville, OK; one brother, Kenny Fowler of Owasso, OK; one sister, Sharon Dacus and her husband, David, of Owasso, OK; eight grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at Gregory Baptist Church in Inola with Rev. Jerry Moore officiating. Committal prayers and interment will be at 3:30 p.m. at the Wyandotte Indian Cemetery in Wyandotte.
