Obituary of Neota Ward

Neota E. Ward, age 83, of Coweta departed this life on Tuesday evening, March 31, 2009 at Jane Phillips Hospital in Bartlesville, OK. She was born on August 10, 1925 in Henryetta, OK to Acie and Viola (McGee) Ellis. Neota was a loving, caring mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother to her family. She attended school in Webbers Falls. Neota and Robert Ward were united and marriage on February 13, 1945 in Wagoner, OK. In 1953, she and Robert moved to the Coweta area from Wagoner. Neota worked as a cook at Coweta Public Schools for 25 years until her retirement in 1973. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Coweta. Her hobbies included reading, quilting, and she enjoyed doing cross word puzzles. Neota was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Jerry Ward, one sister and two brothers. Neota is lovingly survived by her son, Dennis Ward of Tulsa, OK; her daughter, Deanna Stacy and her husband, Cecil, of Nowata, OK; her brothers, Bill Ellis and Charles Ellis, both of Broken Arrow, OK; two grandchildren, Alana Owens and John Stacy; 7 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at the Church of Christ in Coweta with Rev. Rex Shrum officiating. Committal prayers and burial will follow at Vernon Cemetery.
