Obituary of Lea Bailey
Lea Bailey, age 62, of Tuttle, Oklahoma was born on July 9, 1946 to Delbert Lee Hand and Kathleen (Claver) Hand in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She passed from this life on Sunday evening, March 22, 2009 following a terminal illness. She had resided at Tuttle Care Center and South Park Health Center a short while until her death. Lea was treated with kindness and compassion by the Center’s staff as well as the dedicated SolAmor Hospice nurses Kristy, Robin & Heather, and Becky who was her very patient and comforting social worker. Lea was visited by many others as she persisted in illness and the family wishes to extend a heart-felt thank you to all those and especially to Lea’s long-time boss and friend, Stephen Zrenda, Jr., P.C. for never giving up on her, and to Reverend Frank Giles, Pastor of The Free Will Baptist Church of Newcastle, Oklahoma for diligence in prayer with & for Lea. Lea worked as a professional legal assistant since graduating from High School in 1964 and she attended Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma. Her many hobbies included playing classical piano pieces, sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, reading, painting, and fishing. In earlier years, Lea was an avid tennis player and always loved animals. Survivors include her sister, Linda Kay (Hand) Wisener and husband, Mike, of Tuttle Oklahoma; two aunts, Pauline (Hand) Kendrick of Arkansas and Hazel (Hand) Wright of Coweta, Oklahoma. Lea has two nieces: Brandi Renee (Wisener) Vrana of Moore, Oklahoma and Tabitha Hand of Boston, Massachusetts. She also has three nephews: Jimmy Dean Hand, Jr. of Russellville, Arkansas, Gary Wayne Hand of Coweta, and Chance Jones of Des Moines, Iowa. Additionally there are great nieces and nephews whom she loved well. Lea was preceded in death by paternal grandparents (Hand) and maternal grandparents (Claver), her parents, Delbert Lee Hand and Kathleen (Claver) Hand, one brother, Jimmy Dean Hand, one niece, Jennifer Ann Wisener, as well as many aunts and uncles. A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Shahan Free Will Baptist Church in Coweta, OK with Rev. Frank Giles officiating.
