Obituary of Ruthe Harp Cleveland

Ruthe Harp Cleveland, age 68, departed this life on Saturday afternoon, March 21, 2009 at her residence in Coweta surrounded by her loving family members. She was born on October 2, 1940 in Fillmore, California to Clyde Dane and Nellie Ilene (Routh) Beard. Ruthe was a loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family. She attended Fillmore High School and graduated in 1958. In 1961, Ruthe and Ron Whiteley were united in marriage in Fillmore, California and they later divorced. In 1974, she and Harold “Hal” Harp were united in marriage in California and he preceded her in death. In 1975, she moved to Coweta from Phoenix, Arizona. In 2004, Ruthe and Charles “Cleve” Cleveland were united in marriage in Eureka Springs, Arkansas and he also preceded her in death. Ruthe owned and operated H&H Trash Service for 25 years. She also owned and operated Ruthe’s Day Care, Tigerland Skate Center and she had worked as a real estate agent. Ruthe was a member of the Red Hat Society and she was a member of the Coweta Chamber of Commerce. Her hobbies included reading, gardening, baking, swimming, and she was an avid OU football fan. Ruthe loved spending time with her grandchildren and going to all their sporting events. Ruthe will be dearly missed by all those who knew her. Ruthe was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, three brothers, and one sister. Ruthe is lovingly survived by her son, Steve Harp Whiteley and his wife, Kim, of Coweta; her daughters, Shelley Cook of Tulsa and Leigh Ann Hannah of Coweta; her brother, Carroll Wayne Beard of Coweta; her sisters, Helen Polen of Magalia, California and Geneva Dyer of Coweta; six grandchildren, Mandy Miller and her husband, Kevin, Tyler Cook, Ben Hannah IV, Jordan Cook, Paige Whiteley, and Madison Whiteley; one great-grandchild, Dalton Miller; other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Coweta with Rev. David Jones officiating. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Ben Hannah, Tyler Cook, Elgin Harp, Roy Harp, Stacy Harp, Robbie Morton, Vernon Yocham, and Henry Helsey.
