Obituary of Elbridge Finney

Elbridge E. Finney, age 83, of Jenks, Oklahoma departed this life on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on June 25, 1925 in Alma, Arkansas to Omer and Hattie (Graves) Finney. Elbridge was a loving husband, father, and grandfather to his family. He attended school in Haskell, Oklahoma. Elbridge and Sylvia Bell Peoples were united in marriage on February 11, 1945 in Haskell, Oklahoma. He served in the United States Navy. Elbridge worked as a salesman at a nursery for over 20 years. He loved playing guitars, string instruments, and he enjoyed doing carpentry work. Elbridge will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. Elbridge was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, one brother, one sister, and one granddaughter. Elbridge is lovingly survived by his wife, Sylvia of the home; his son, David L. Finney of Sand Springs; his daughter, Sharon Kay Breeden of Tulsa; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives. A graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 13, 2009 at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 13, 2009 at Wright Funeral Home Chapel.
