Obituary of Petrona Murillo
Petrona "Nila" Murillo, age 76, of Coweta, OK passed away peacefully in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Thursday evening, December 19, 2013 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. Nila was born on October 23, 1937 in El Salvador and was the daughter of Leonidas and Virgilia (Caceres) Cabrera. She and Angel Murillo were married on December 13, 1959 in Panama City, Panama. Nila was a loving wife, wonderful and great mother, and loved to volunteer in the Mission Field internationally and nationally. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Broken Arrow. Nila enjoyed traveling, photography, helping people, singing, doing mission work, crafts, teaching and she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was founder of the first Hispanic chapter of Women's Missionary Union in the State of Oklahoma. Nila is survived by her husband, Angel Murillo of the home in Coweta, OK; two sons, Rafael Murillo & wife, Robin, of Missouri and Rolando Murillo & wife, Juanita, of Tulsa, OK; one daughter, Lyda Wilbur & husband, Geoff, of Coweta, OK; one son-in-law, Lance Sumner of Virginia; two brothers, Jesuś Caceres of El Salvador and Daniel Caceres of Norman, OK; two sisters, Linda Montoya of New Mexico and Sarah Kinglow of New Mexico; eight grandchildren, Joshua Sumner, Roshelle Sumner, Isaiah Murillo, Daniel Murillo, Andrew Murillo, Jesse Murillo, Nathan Murillo and Caleb Murillo; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Nila was preceded in death by her parents, her oldest daughter, Loyda, one brother and one sister. Viewing will be Monday morning, December 23, 2013 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the funeral home. Funeral services for Nila will be at 2:00 pm Monday, December 23, 2013 at the First Baptist Church Student Center, 100 W. Albany, Broken Arrow, OK 74012. Pastors Nick Garland, Obdulio Recinos, Aaron Swensen and Daniel Caceres will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta. Pallbearers are Geoffrey Wilbur, Lance Sumner, Rolando Murillo, Rafael Murillo, Carlitos Caceres and Alex Montoya.
