Obituary of Samuel L. Redding
Samuel L. Redding of Catoosa, OK, age 80, a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday afternoon, June 18, 2012 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. Samuel was born on February 7, 1932 in Council Hill, OK and was the son of Basil and Pearl (Sappington) Redding. Samuel was a 1949 graduate of Council Hill High School. Samuel married Rheta Ellen Koonce on May 31, 1952 in Van Buren, AR. Samuel worked at Tulsa Junior College as Chairman of Science and Engineering for 20 years until he retired in 1994. Samuel had also worked at Babcock and Wilcox Construction Company as a Superintendent. Samuel was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rolling Hills. Samuel enjoyed tinkering with cars, working on old tractors, golfing, doing yard work and most of all he loved spending time with his family. Samuel will be dearly missed by all those who loved and knew him. Samuel is lovingly survived by his wife of 60 years, Rheta Redding of the home; his daughter, Christie Marshall and husband, Leonard, of Tulsa, OK; his son, Samuel “Bo” Redding Jr. and wife, Sonja, of Catoosa, OK; his brother, Max Redding and wife, Mary, of Jenks, OK; his sister, Genoa Curtis and husband, Garland, of Eufaula, OK; his five grandchildren, Jackie Morgan, Monica McConnell, Mandy Ratcliff, Nikki James and Dustin Redding; his nine great grandchildren, Josh, Tristan, Casey, Anna, Dawson, Kayden, Odin, Kenna and Rylee; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Samuel was preceded in death by his parents, Basil and Pearl Redding and his son, Casey Redding. Funeral services for Samuel are scheduled for 1:00 PM Thursday, June 21, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Rolling Hills, 19529 E. 4th Place, Tulsa, OK 74108. The Rev. Gerald Dyer will officiate the service with the Rev. Ernie Gill and Jackie Morgan assisting. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee, OK. Pallbearers are Jackie Morgan, Ronnie James, Dustin Redding, Josh Morgan, Tristan Morgan and Casey Quick. Honorary Pallbearers are Steve Redding and Jamey Ratcliff. The family of Samuel L.
