Obituary of Allen William Messick
Allen William “Bud” Messick of Coweta, age 82, passed from this life Friday evening, April 20, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. Bud was born on August 23, 1929 in Broken Arrow, OK and was the son of Ralph and Ruby (Key) Messick. Bud was a 1948 graduate of Rogers High School. Bud was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. Bud enlisted in the Navy on January 31, 1950 and was honorably discharged on January 29, 1958. He and Patsy June Webb were united in marriage on June 22, 1951 in Tulsa, OK and they spent 58 years together until she preceded him in death on August 6, 2009. Bud owned and operated Reliable Boot & Shoe Rebuilders for over 40 years until he retired in 1991. Bud was a member of Whispering Hills Church of Christ in Broken Arrow. Bud is survived by his two sons, Allen Robert Messick and wife, Gina, of Coweta, OK and Mark Steven Messick of Coweta, OK; one sister, Mary Plaster of Tulsa, OK; four grandchildren, J.T. Messick, Tatum Hay, Sherry Morris, and Laura Messick; 8 great grandchildren, Devon Riggins, Addisyn Messick, Drew Morris, Camdyn Messick, Kennedy Hay, Ryan Morris, Cooper Messick, and Kerrington Hay; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy June Messick, his parents, Ralph and Ruby Messick, and one son, Brian Todd Messick. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, April 24, 2012 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Whispering Hills Church of Christ, 21349 E. 111th St., Broken Arrow, OK 74014. Dale Graham, Mike Snyder, and Bill Burton will officiate the service. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Vernon Cemetery. Pallbearers are James Sweetin, Nolan Harris, Roy Cole, Cliff Richison, Jerry Spradley, Martin Williams, and Devon Riggins.
