Obituary of Shirley Hollandsworth
Shirley Ann Hollandsworth of Coweta, age 62, a loving and caring mother, sister and grandmother, passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon, November 22, 2011 at her home in Coweta, OK. She was born on July 17, 1949 in Lamar, Colorado to David John Freed and Dorothy Beatrice (Mead) Freed. Shirley attended Lamar High School, graduating in 1968. Shirley married Russell Hollandsworth in August 1968 and they were married 41 years. They lived in Denver and started their family and then in 1974, they moved to Coweta, OK. Shirley is survived by her two sons, Gary Hollandsworth and Michael Hollandsworth of Coweta; her sister, Jean Freed of Lamar, CO; three grandchildren, Austin, Drew and Emily Hollandsworth, all of Coweta; her ex-husband, Russell Hollandsworth of Coweta; and many other special cousins and family members. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and a long time friend, Inamaie Kraemer who Shirley is dancing in Heaven with. Shirley’s other long time friends are Vera Poplin, Bonnie Claxton, Patty Amos and many other Wal-Mart friends that are very dear to Shirley. She worked for Coweta Wal-Mart for 30 years. They recently threw her a surprise 30 year anniversary party and built a walking trail behind Wal-Mart dedicated to Shirley and she was thrilled. Shirley had many special memories there. Shirley also worked at Sacred Heart Hospital in Lamar, CO for 4 years and she worked 1 year at Sears. Shirley’s grandchildren are the love of her life and she loved to watch them play sports. Her favorite hobbies were knitting, crocheting and of course her love for quilting. Shirley made many beautiful quilts. She belonged to Green Country Quilters Guild and she also worked with Hearts and Hands making and donating baby quilts. She also loved camping, skiing and traveling with her mother. The family will be present at a visitation on Sunday afternoon, November 27, 2011 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 28, 2011 at Clearview Baptist Church, 23003 E. Highway 51, Broken Arrow, OK 74014. Rev. Larry McDonald will officiate the service. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta. Pallbearers are Mike Hollandsworth, Drew Hollandsworth, Austin Hollandsworth, Russell Hollandsworth, Fred Hollandsworth and Mark Woodward.
