Obituary of Helen Clea Stringer
Helen Clea Stringer, long-time resident of Coweta, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday evening, December 10, 2010 at St. John Medical Center in Broken Arrow, OK at the age of 85 years, 6 months and 10 days. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her family. Clea was born on May 30, 1925 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to the late Grover C. and Elva Mae (Claunch) Howard. She graduated from high school in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. After graduating high school, Clea went to Northeastern State University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She and Clarence “Brandy” Stringer were married on May 30, 1948 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death. Clea taught 1st grade for 37 years at Coweta Public Schools until she retired in 1987. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Coweta. Clea was also a member of the Wagoner County Retired Teachers Association and the Oklahoma Retired Teachers Association. Her hobbies included reading, sewing, canning and freezing and traveling. Clea is lovingly survived by her son, Kyle Stringer of Coweta, OK; her daughter, Helen Campa and her husband, Freddie, of Coweta, OK; two grandchildren, Jenni Clea and Jaymi Shaye; five great grandchildren, Cesar, Elias, Cora, Azalyn, Braelyn; several nieces and nephew; and other relatives. Clea was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Bobbie Ruth and Anna Lee and one great granddaughter, Bailey Shaye. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Coweta with Rev. David Jones officiating.
