Obituary of Louis Smith

Louis Raymond Smith, age 64, of Coweta passed away on Saturday evening, September 4, 2010 at his residence in Coweta, OK. He was born on September 9, 1945 in Albuquerque, NM to Clarence and Cleo Florence (Creek) Smith. Louis was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and grandfather to his family and a great friend to many. In 1963, he graduated from Rio Grande High School in Albuquerque, NM. Louis enlisted in the United States Army on February 1, 1966 and was honorably discharged on January 12, 1969. In 1971, he moved from Pueblo, CO to Coweta, OK where he has lived for the past 39 years. Louis and Kathleen Gates were married on December 3, 1978 in Ralston, OK. He owned and operated Smith Tractor for 26 years. Louis was also an oil lease owner and a truck driver. He was a member of the Grace Bible Presbyterian Church. His hobbies included woodworking, four wheeling, camping, and he enjoyed spending time with his family. Louis is lovingly survived by his wife of 31 years, Kathleen of the home; two sons, Steven Raymond Smith and his wife, Ashley, of Muskogee, OK and Clarence Keith Smith and his wife, Cassie, of Ft. Gibson, OK; his mother, Cleo Smith of Ft. Gibson, OK; five grandchildren, Quentin Smith, Lincoln Smith, Ethan Smith, Brenden Smith, Makinzi Smith; his honorary sister, Cherry Kuebbler of Coweta, OK; two nephews; one niece; 14 great nieces and nephews; numerous cousins; other relatives and a host of friends. Louis was preceded in death by his father, one sister, and two brothers. Funeral services for Louis will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Coweta, OK with Dr. John Barela officiating. Burial will follow at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK. Family and friends may view the obituary and send condolences to the family online @ www.wrightfh.net.
